I'm guessing Kurt inspired him to keep playing after the leg injury. You do know Dave was in Nrivana right? If you don't know, wait about 10 minutes for the next Dave Grohl/Foo Fighters documentary produced by Dave Grohl to come on. He may mention it.
They document the musical history of each of the cities. How could he not mention Nirvana while shooting Seattle? You're pretty dumb.

I'm not a huge Foo Fighters fan, although I've seen them live and own several of their albums. But Dave Grohl comes across as being a very cool, down to earth guy. There was that great story years ago about these Australian miners who were trapped underground and one of the guys requested an iPod with Foo Fighters songs on it. Dave Grohl told the guy he had two tickets for any Foo Fighters show he wanted and he would drink with him backstage.
He's written some really good songs and he's one of best hard rock/heavy metal drummers on earth. (Listen to any of his Nirvana shite or "Songs for the Deaf")
