Am I weird for loving this movie even now? It just so perfectly captures what it is, late 70's, urban, blue collar Italian family, young working guy, disco club. The delivery is almost raw, almost comedic at times, but so effective.

I've actuaally never seen it. On the watch list. But I'm not that excited about it either.

Great movie at the time, and to me it still very much stands the test of time. Certainly raw. Travolta was outstanding in his portrayal of Tony Monero.
Someone brought up Urban Cowboy. Also a great classic movie, raw and Travolta was epic as Bud.
Realize this, John Travolta changed pop culture twice with these 2 movies. Discos and Honkey Tonks both exploded after each were released. A whole new mainstream fashion was created both times. This kind of phenomenon does not exist anymore. The internet, cable TV, netflix, etc have produced so much entertainment content that movies no longer have the impact they once did.

Fran Drescher may be somewhat of a joke now because of her laugh and that awful "The Nanny", but she makes an appearance in this move. She is a 20-year-old smoke show.
I also think it holds up pretty well. Taking away all the dancing and stuff for which it's celebrated, it's still a pretty good story.

A really good movie for its time, and it's still fun to watch. Plus, that the soundtrack was epic.

Never really enjoyed it. Might have been a little before my era. I do, however, love Staying Alive (which is, admittedly, an embarrassment to SNF's legacy). I probably know every word. Epitome of a guilty pleasure.

Fever and Urban Cowboy are both great movies. A lot of folks don't give them a chance.
