I cannot understand why so many LSU fans get so irate about what ULL calls itself. Why is it so important they not call themselves Louisiana? Why does it matter?

THIS!! I have zero ties to the school, but whatever helps them become better in any way is fine. Life is about improving. Do your thing UL, represent the state well.
I know for a fact UGA did not act like this when Georgia College became Georia State University.

I think it's more that ULL fans get mad when we don't say the name correctly. To me, I don't give a damn what they want to be called, but I have friends from ULL that get their panties in a knot when I say ULL. And when they do it is beyond hilarious to see them react the way they do. Consequently, I continue to give them hell about the name for my pure entertainment.
