Very much yes. Look at your arm's relationship to your shoulder. It hangs below it. Pitching a baseball is a very unnatural motion, as all that muscle torqueing goes on above your shoulder. Pitching a softball is a much more natural motion. The softball pitcher's arm never does anything that makes the shoulder joint say "dang that was stupid". The above is also the reason young boys aren't really encouraged to throw curve balls, as that unnatural motion is apparently even worse on young / not physically fully developed shoulders. All that said, a woman/otherwise underhanded, fast pitched softball amazes me still, in a "how in the frick do they do that way."
