I can't speak for what the OP has not already mentioned. I have health ins and I have a savings account specifically for health related issues. Not everyone does and that's their issues. I do agree that claims will cause premiums to rise, but I also know there is a reason why you carry insurance.

It has to do with the fact that this is what the medical payments coverages are for on your homeowners policy. Stupid concept, I know.


ETA And he may not file a claim thru his boss' policy. We don't know. Heck, the boss may already have. He asked a question and I answered.

Maybe he doesn't have the money to pay for it. Maybe he works 60 hours a week to send his kids to private school and can't afford health insurance.

ETA ETA Should he also decline to use his health insurance because premiums might rise? If so, then why have it?
