Help me, who are some guys that have had long/successful careers that had to spend 3-4 years in AAA? I am basing this on a few guys I've known. Played with guys that spent numerous years in AAA and never had more than a cup of coffee. Then, guys like Carl Pavano just zoomed right past AAA.

Well, he has all this year and next until he reaches 3-4 years in AAA. He's pitched 53.2 innings in AAA this year with a 2.52 ERA 42K/12BB. He's not doing bad at all.
Jon Lester didn't become a regular in the Majors until his age 24 season. Corey Kluber became a 20 game starter in his age 27 season. Chris Sale became a 20 game starter in his age 23 season.
You act like it's hard to find guys that weren't 30 game starters in the Show by 23. Not mention, as you should know, different teams handle prospects differently. And different leagues are known to be more hitter or pitcher friendly.
