I'm sorry..I just don't get what they are good for
If your feet are hot wear normal cheap sandals
If you're out hiking or running, wear tennis shoes. I've seen people wear them on the trail and can't help but think why they'd want to expose their feet and toes to being sliced by thorns, rocks, etc but hey what do I know

Why when I can wear quality sandals geared for being outdoors....

They don't fall off like sandals. They don't fit loose at all. Actually, they're great boat shoes as well.
They are super durable. I have 2 pair and they are nearly 10 years old and still great.
ETA:
This isn't one of those "Expensive but crappy with no functionality" trends. They have great functionality and last a long, long time.
