It will be interesting to see how the world responses to American lead investigation and indictment.
Yeah. It's a little strange to me that the US was leading the charge, considering how much more popular soccer is in other powerful countries. What's the story with our involvement here?

We are getting them for bribes and corruction out of CONCACAF and CONMEBOL (CONCACAF's headquarters are in Miami). The Swiss are getting them for bribes for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups.

The indictments focus on dealings within CONCACAF (which is headquartered in Miami) regarding bribery and other money-related charges that were facilitated through US bank accounts.

my guess is that since soccer isnt anywhere close to being the #1 sport here that there is far less bribe money being funneled to cover FIFA's arse w/nefarious dealings but juuuuust enough money that the gov't be like "Where's my cut mother fricker?"

if this was the NFL getting popped we'd already have its lackeys on ESPN crying about how this is an injustice and an overreach by the DOJ.

FIFA will learn from this and starting spreading a ton more bribe money in the US from now on.
