Just to add: I was recently at Cabela's looking at their line of safes. I think they are made by Cannon? Maybe Liberty. Anyway I could actually flex the door jam metal with my one hand on one of the 'higher grade' safes. Sounds like a tall tale but I am not making it up (I could see the metal move). IMO that would almost be a worthless purchase.

Better to spend money on real steel than fancy graphics and handles.

Also, a safe is just one part of a system that should include an alarm system and an insurance policy that covers the items in the safe.

It all depends what you're after. Stopping kids and the average smash and grab theif wouldn't require much.

The one thing that I read that stuck out is all safes should be bolted down next to a wall, where the door opens away from that wall. That keeps them from being able to pry them open as easily.
