You're involved in the tag/release process, right? Does CCA ever release the tag location vs catch location info? I was watching an outdoor show yesterday I believe and they said one last year was caught miles from where released while another was caught about 300 yards from where it was released.

I'm not sure if the actual coordinates are released. Periodically, CCA will send out pictures where fish are being released. When I tagged, we purposely included land marks in the background to give hints where fish are being released.

The release/re-catch information is used for scientific purposes but I can't say for sure whether the actual data are released to the public. I simply do not know the answer.

The data on distances where caught/released is available across all tagging programs. Redfish tend to be caught close to where they were tagged. there's not as much information on trout due to mortality rates and sheer numbers/migration, etc.
