I'd rather UCLA get the #1 - that combined with the SECt loss should take away any sense of entitlement on this team and make them hungry.

I really, really hope it's us against those damn Bruins for the Final.

You realize other top 8 seeds haven't won for stretches longer than that?

Lol wow. So the 8 seed not winning the CWS for 15 years is about the same as the 1 seed (aka the favorite) not winning the CWS for 15 years? Come on people. Use your brains before posting.

Was just responding because the usual premise of threads pertaining to this topic is, "should we hope for a top 8 other than the number 1?", when it's a fallacy due to the fact that it's not a drought exclusive to the number 1 overall seed.

A more interesting stat is that a national seed has only won the title twice in the past 11 years

We agree. It is very interesting, and it shows how fickle baseball can be. Also, it shows that most have no true idea how good college baseball teams are.

Most just look at box scores and vote.

Hopefully the first this century comes this year because UCLA just lost a series at Oregon

That is really interesting. Did not know that. Just goes to show how much of a crap shoot the NCAA tournament is. Just have to be hot at the right time.

If you assume the #1 seed has a 1/8 chance of winning, the odds of this happening are 13.5%

False. He had it right. It's 12.5% if each seed is alotted an equal chance at winning.
