On this Memorial Day Weekend, let us all remember our Honored Fallen, like the brave crew of the USS Scorpion.

I'm remembering my older brother and 7 other Marines who were lost at sea on Oct 8th, 1990 when 2 helos crashed in the North Arabian Sea.

I guess it's because we're such a small community within the larger picture of the military... but the submarine brotherhood takes a lot of pride in honoring the fallen. Since the first sub back in 1900 there have been over 4,000 submariners lost... around 3,500 in WWII. It seemed like we were always doing some kind of ceremony or event to honor those who came before us.
4,000 might not seem like a huge number in the grand scheme of things... but you have to consider that it wasn't 1 guy here, 1 guy there. When a sub went down it was probably 50+ guys that never came back all at once. Those guys in WWII had a 1 in 5 chance of never coming back... but they did it anyway.
