Guess you've never heard of Galileo. Did the Holy Spirit just decide one day it was time to stop protecting the idea of a Geocentric universe?

Geocentric was never part of Catholic doctrine. Many catholics and non-catholics alike believed it. Many catholics (wrongly) persecuted those who didn't. But it was never part of the necessary beliefs for salvation. That has never changed.
