I vehemently disagree with this. I hated to see it, but it broke Ramsay's grasp over Theon and it has finally hardened Sansa into being able to deal with the harsh realities of the world in the 7 Kingdoms

Finally hardened her?

Watching her dad's head get chopped off, her entire family murdered, little brother's burned and living with Joffrey for that long wasn't enough?

Cmon bro.

Are we watching the same show and reading the same books? Her dad's beheading and Joffrey's demented behavior didn't take her from being a passive, naive little girl who still harbored fantasies of the white knight riding to her rescue to a grown woman, cold and hard to the world that she needs to be to compete in the Game of Thrones. Littlefinger had started to open her eyes and her psychological torture gave her some flavor of how cold she would have to be, but the final vestige of her innocence has been ripped from her now. There is no more fantasy for her to cling to. She must now do what is necessary to survive and get revenge or she will die. It should be clear as day to her now.

As a couple of us have speculated (and it is pure speculation) in the episode thread, the only way I can see that this scene was necessary if they are positioning Sansa as a half crazed Lady Stoneheart type character rather than a straight tough heroic "rally the North" character.

I know its kind of a long shot but that would make sense. Everything she's undergone (and no telling what else she will undergo) could have the effect of unhinging her to that degree.
