quote:Good lord how do you hire anyone worth a damn when they can just go to every other company and get hired straight on as a Roustabout making twice the money on a better schedule?
Right now you start as a BR hand if you have zero experience. Didn't used to be that way.

Who's hiring roustabouts w/ no experience at $21/hr? Seriously. Don't say "everyone". If there are companies doing that, share that info so guys can get jobs. Hell, that's what this thread is about

As I said before the only people that are being forced to be BR hands are the guys with zero experience and are looking to get started off shore. Lots of good hands started in the galley. If you have experience, you're (theoretically) worth a damn and won't have to start as a BR hand. Why would Ensco hire some guy with zero experience offshore, chasing cranes all day long just to find out he's a POS when you can hire guys who already have experience for those positions and properly vet new guys in the galley, have them come outside and train and then hand pick the ones you want outside? It sounds like a good idea to me.
