Very interesting topic but I can only access the description of the article. I'd be interested to hear the cases they included in the study.
I wonder if they included people like Mary Beth Tinning. 10 of her children died as infants or toddlers in the 1960s and 70. Doctors just concluded it was a tragic inherited condition why her all children kept dying of "crib death" But when a child she adopter died as well, then nurses and docs were incredibly suspicious.
But it was not till her 9th child was born and was killed that they arrested her. She was convicted of only ONE murder and sentenced to 20 years to life in prison. LINK
ETA: Technically she may not be classified as a serial killer as she has only been convicted of one of the deaths. She has been denied parole 4 times. I think if she ever does get out, they will prosecute her for another death and keep her in jail.
