I hate trying to speak for someone else but i don't think Jay denying there are techniques available to increase bat speed. I think he was saying there has to be a predisposition to speed already present.

I'm slow. Wasn't always the case but it clearly is today. I can probably run 100 meters in about 15 seconds. Have the best speed coaches in the country work with me for a year and maybe I will cut that time to 14.5 seconds. I didn't acquire speed and they didn't teach me speed. Their tecniques can improve but its difficult to create what is not there. I think that is what Jay was saying and I aologize to him for assuming to know his mind.

Create, or a similar word, is what I should have used instead of teach. Teach was the wrong word to use. Of course any technique can be taught including techniques designed to improve bat speed. My inability to precisely define my point caused confusion.
