Better method would have been to call her into your office, and calmly reflect your disappointment, and then give her an assignment. Or, you could have just called her in and asked her to complete something - the message would have been delivered.

Absolutely the wrong thing to do. Some employees will never know they are in the wrong unless notified. You are essentially gearing up to fire her without warning in this scenario.

Put yourself in her shoes - would you rather a discreet warning prior to going complete cheesedick, or to be reprimanded weeks later for a track record of cheesedickness?
