so am i right in saying weve got a surprisingly strong showing of greek/lebanese restaurants?

Yes we do. There is a sizable cohort of Lebanese (Catholics) in Baton Rouge as well as a few Palestinians (Muslims). Lafayette has a crazy amount of Lebanese people. They use to have a little restaurant called The Green Olive that was outstanding.

Years ago I would frequent Arzi's and special order raw kibbe . Doubt any restaurant would serve it today with all the crazy health code rules & regulations

I was in my early 20's when George opened the GI with his parents and sister Renee'. I lived down the street and ate their 2-3 x's a week. Was sad to see The Green Olive close 3 yrs ago after 20 yrs in business.

I still keep in touch with George. He taught me how to cook Lebanese food as they use to offer cooking classes on Friday nights. $25 as George and Renee' educated you on the meals, ingredients, prep , and fed you at the end of the night. Great times during my youth as I still cook Lebanese meals once a month.

IMO, the best Lebanese food in Laffy is served by Athena out of the CITGO gas station on Kaliste Saloom
