Would you still have that opinion if it were the saints that lost a draft pick and unable to draft him the next year?

I think his agent announcing that he wouldn't sign if picked after day 2 was meant to force a team to pick him, rather than wait till after when he was an UDFA. As said earlier in this thread, the backfire could've been that this strategy undermined the importance of the draft, which lead to the NFL advising teams not to draft him as a sort of FU and to protect the draft's value (the implication being that a team who picks him would be penalized in some way).
