Has nothing to do with the books
The dude was near death and in the middle of nowhere miles away from any town or city. And he's one of the more hated people in all of Westeros
So unless you believe a Maester just popped up out of thin air and decided to drag him miles away to a place where he could be healed, then it's safe to assume he's dead
