this is exactly correct.
Assuming he's completely innocent, he should've immediately flown back to BR and been banging on the police station door right after this story broke (still days before the draft) to tell the cops all he knows.
Right after that, call a press conference on the police station steps to publicly announce that he's innocent and that he went to the police immediately to help with their investigation.
Then he should've talked to each NFL team to explain what he just did.
Again, that's the stuff an innocent guy would do to still give himself a chance at being a multimillionaire.
ETA: I truly hope he's innocent, but some of his actions have been a bit puzzling.

just being connected with a murder investigation ruined his chances at the first round. at that point i think its better to focus your attention on the legal matters instead of trying to convince nfl teams to take a chance on him. if and when he gets cleared, he will get his shot at the pros

But the cops are the ones who pushed back his interview isn't that the story?
