No, there are no guarantees which is why it is a hard decision.

But, you either take risks on a four year shitty contract or take risks for one year and gamble on yourself you will significantly improve your stock.

If he knows he is innocent of any serious crime and teams are telling him they just can't take him while it lingers, it seems to me that the least riskiest path to a big pay day is sitting out one year rather than playing four.

UDFA receive a 3 year contract.... late round picks can get a 4 year deal.... 4 years at 300-500k + incentives could put him well over half a million a year. Michael Ford UDFA is making 495k this year after a 3 year 1.985 million deal....

There are worse things than receiving a 6 figure salary, if he sits out a year he misses that salary for the POSSIBILITY of making a bit more? The only way he makes significantly more is by being a 1st or 2nd round pick.

a 100% bigger risk, it is better to play, if he gets hurt during the year there is a possibility he is a bouncer at Reggies than working in the NFL. If he is drafted and gets hurt a team still pays his salary for that season. Also you are predicting he still gets drafted near the top of the rounds, which probably doesn't happen for a guy who hasn't played in a year and sat out.
