I would just go ahead and get a bit from the bank and call it done. For the rest of your trip just use a debit card or credit card, the are even more ubiquitous in Europe than the US. Top up with ATM as necessary, just remember you WILL pay a fee to convert back to US dollars unless at your local bank.
