I had heard this. But It didn't come across as such to me....and I have seen performers that can pull the ironic thing off. He did sit down and talk to the crowd and have a little back and forth with some people up front and he came across better....really, really dry since of humor.

His stage persona and alias (Father John Misty) is a big act. He's supposed to come off as a pretentious womanizer.

The guy has a pretty dry sense of humor if you've ever heard him tell jokes when he just went by J. Tillman or with Fleet Foxes.
