Maybe the state just doesn't have the money. How bout LSU suck it the frick up like the citizens have to when they encounter financial hardships or personal budget issues. God I'm sick of publicly funded institutions bitching and whining when they are told to live within their means. Newsflash LSU, you aren't that special. Deal with it. Everybody has to adjust their spending so get the frick over yourself, shut up and figure out how to make it work. Everyone in private industry does.

Exactly. I don't really understand where the cuts are supposed to come from. There's not some magical stash of money that the state is hiding. Would you rather the state cut funding to hurricane relief or DPW or higher Ed?
Financially this is a tough time in the country. Decisions have to be made. Ideally you would cut out some of the redundant universities instead of clipping your bell cow, but what has to be done has to be done.
