sometimes when you try and shelter kids too much it backfires.

I'll never forget my experience at a private school. My mom worked at one in Mobile so me, my brother, and my sister all had discounted tuition.

we had all gone to public school for most of our lives. So going to a private school was totally different. Sometimes I think if I hadn't played any sports things would have just sucked there.

I would have never guessed there would be so much drinking or drug use there. There was more drinking it seemed like but the year after I graduated they started doing hair follicle drug tests.

I have seen it more times than I care to think about it. When kids are mature enough to be ready for the next step in freedom & responsibility, and parents dont allow it, it sets development back. If you keep doing this time and time again there comes a day when suddenly they are no longer mature, have no clue how to make a decision, and life is an impossible task for them.

Or they get into the real world and it terrifies them so badly that it scars them for life. This one happens mostly with hyper fundamentalist Christians who pick and choose from Biblical morality laws of dress and conduct, while ignoring a myriad of other levitical laws within the same book, chapter, and passage.

I am so tired of the Americanized Church, and the parents it creates in so many instances.
I am also so tired of the way most secular parents raise their kids. Grown adults still mewling at the tit of their original well spring.

This fine night currently finds me a tad cynical regarding humanity.
