He also said he wanted to go to a Final Four team.

That kid has said a lot of bullshite during his recruitment. Of course, in his defense, it was many people "close" to him. But regardless, I'm so happy this shite is over with, this recruiting hoopla has been ridiculous. Have fun shooting 20 contested jump shots a game, sounds like a blast.

I never understand the animosity towards a kid if he decides not to come to "your" school. It's kind of pathetic, really.

That aside, I understand why he would want to go to MSU. Let's face it, this kid (and many others including Simmons) would not even be considering colleges if he could enter the NBA draft right out of HS. Next year is nothing more than a NBA audition for him regardless of where he would attend college. He has also mentioned that he wants to play PG, or at least have the ball in his hands as much as possible. MSU provides the best opportunity for that.

While UK and LSU might give him a better chance to have a better team and greater exposure, they probably wouldn't give him the best chance to shine individually.
He would almost assuredly be the 3rd PG at Kentucky. And yes, while there are minutes to be had at LSU, it's not like LSU has no one on their roster that can handle the PG spot. In fact, LSU has at least 3 guys on the roster who are capable of playing PG (Gray, Quarterman, Simmons)

He'll have the ball in his hands a lot at MSU, and will likely be their #1 option on offense from the outset. Will MSU contend for the SEC title next year and be a NCAAT team? Probably not. But that's not REALLY the ultimate goal for a player of Newman's caliber. It's getting to the NBA asap and in the highest draft position available.
