I had someone steal a fishing pole out the back of my truck that I'm convinced the perpetrator has used to keep illegally sized and quantity of fish. Guess I'm responsible for those crimes committed and the downfall of society, by leaving the pole in the back of my truck while going into a restaurant to eat.

I wouldn't hold you more responsible than the thief, obviously. I'm not for locking up or shaming people who get their guns stolen due to a lack of responsibility.
But yeah, it's kind of counterproductive to put a firearm within relatively easy access of people who could use it against those of us who advocate for self-protection (through 2A rights).
