It's literally a movie about a guy trying to get home to his family for Christmas. Def a Christmas movie.
The only bad thing about watching Die Hard now is realizing that the capers in the first two movies are completely predicated on no one having cell phones. In part two, they could have just walked downstairs to a pay phone and called the FAA. No more bargaining chip for the bad guys. Problem solved.
