No, the point is you are looking for any alternative to Asik, even if the options are fictional. There are plenty of centers making less than $8 million, but they are not available in the upcoming Free Agency. Also, we don't have $8-$12 million in cap space to give Asik, we have Bird Rights, so it's not like we can take the money we have for Asik and give it to another FA center.

didn't realize that.
Signing Asik just means that we have Asik going forward, and i don't like not having options.
21 free agents in 2016, and we won't have a chance to get one b/c we are stuck with overpaying Asik b/c we had no other choice.

So in what is likely a contract year for Monty and Demps you want them to take a step back by not resigning Asik. That'll happen.

I'm confident a healthy team with fill in centers not named Steisma next year can make the playoffs without Asik.

Trades can be made.

Sign Asik to 3 year deal. If a realistic center option becomes available in 2016, do a S&T. Just because we sign him doesn't mean we'll keep him all those years.

I don't think moving him would be hard considering the team we'd trade him to just lost a center and centers are hard to come by.

ETA: This is all assuming we don't grossly overpay for Asik
