Termite treatment

Recently bought an old wooden uptown house in New Orleans and am looking to get the house under a termite contract. Anyone have any suggestions or experiences with companies in the metro region that they wish to share, thoughts on bait versus chemical treatments, and any ballpark estimates for upfront and long term costs?

Did the previous owner have a termite contract?
Much cheaper to continue that contract than to start one. I pay about $125 per year.

Chemical unless your crawl space is too low, which it shouldn't.
J&J is a good choice, in my opinion.
Use Termidor.

no. we did have a termite inspection before sale, and they spot treated two areas (one in the house just by the front door, and one in a back exterior shed) for termites. I want to get it under termite contract, however.

Without knowing the size you're looking at 600-1200 for chemical, and 1800-2200 for bait

Southerelite, cost to chemically treat a 17x66 house? There is enough crawl space underneath for chemical treatment.

what would be the pros/cons of each chemical and bait?

I used that and it worked like a charm. PITA to put it down properly though.

Chemical is better than bait, go with it. A lot of the bigger pest control companies are moving away from the baiting systems all together.
