I love mine too and agree with all that you said
I didn't know if the low temp thing was just me. I did get some high temp sealant to seal up the bottom a little better around the vent at the suggestion of youtube.
For what I paid (~230) I couldn't be happier and I've had mine for about 2 years.
I've had it up to 850 degrees but I've also cooked brisket and pork low and slow.

agree with the other responses.
love mine. can do anything from slow cooking ribs and butts to high sear on steaks.
