The Blue

on his solo album "On and Island" is just such fantastic stuff. I dont think there's even been a more fitting title for an album.

Really don't need lyrics when his guitar is talking to you.

My wife and I danced to that song at our wedding. It was a live version from a bootleg. His best vocals IMHO.

One of my friends who may or may not read this thread once told me the thing that sets him apart as a guitarist is the quality of each note he plays, and I have to agree. He has chops obviously but doesn't rely on self indulgent or gaudy phrasing to reflect his technical ability or appeal to cheap gimmicks. Just has a tremendous way of communicating the underlying theme/message of each song via his medium and that is why he is one of the all time greats.

I liked him with Roger Waters. They were better together than apart, much like the beatles. I don't know if Roger kept him in check in Pink Floyd or what, but I'm not a huge fan of his songwriting after Roger left. Momemtary Lapse, Division Bell, and all his solo work just sounds so cheesy.

I had never really listened to Floyd till I saw His gdansk concert playing on tv. Now that's pretty much all I've been listening to for the past 3 months. I just hate I'll never hear him or Floyd play live. Oh well, I got tickets to c brit Floyd play in July. I guess that's the next best thing.
