I typically use whatever is around the house...I typically get the one for hot ovens and heat the grill up just a bit (just warm, but not hot enough to sizzle water)...if you spray it on a really hot grill or turn the grill on while it is soaking, it just evaporates off...
spray it on the barely warm grill and let it set for an hour or so...
spray all of the crud out with a water hose and then fire the grill back up to dry it out...
fwiw, don't spray the oven cleaner on the outside of a stainless grill, or it may discolor it some...
