This is the true key. The makers of the Fast movies have figured out how to successfully market in damn near every single territory with great success. There is a reason the cast is so culturally diverse and it really helps them out around the world with marketing.
Yep. There's a reason they brought Han back and refuse to kill him off (unless they finally did in this one). A Vietnamese girl I used to work with told me she and all of her friends were obsessed with him.
Does anyone think it has enough steam to knock Avatar out of the #1 spot. I've been hoping that something, anything, will finally do this. Dances With Smurfs is an insult to the human race.
Maybe Star Wars will do it.

spoiler warning b/c this be a board that can you can quote directly from the back of a Game of Thrones book thereby giving away major plot points and be fine but then somehow get banned for saying you know there is at least one character that is still alive in the books but is dead in the show even though you didnt name the person.
nah, Han is finally dead.
He technically kicked it way back in Fast and Furious 3 (Tokyo Drift) and all the ones since happened before that flick in the timeline.
I forget if its at the very end of 6 or if its stinger in the middle of the credits but they show you that his car wreck wasn't an accident and that Jason Statham is the one that actually killed him in order to get at Vin Diesel.

Han already died in the first movie he appeared in and they revisited his death at the end of Fast 6. The only new footage of him in this movie was one image of him.

It won't get close.
Funny story though, after The Avengers came out and set the box office record for opening weekend, I read an article where a guy was discussing what movies could take that opening weekend record and potentially take that record and 4 of the 5 are happening:
Avengers 2
Star Wars Episode 7
Batman vs Superman
Justice League
