agreed. He's just too rough on players. I loved him early with the Bulls, but I can't help but feel like his teams constant injuries/health concerns are at least partially a byproduct of his coaching style. Maybe he's best in a "defensive coordinator" role like he was in Boston under doc, though he's massively overqualified for such a position.

Thibs is a defensive genius, but at the end of the day he is an assistant coach. Probably the best one in the league, but that's what he is. He lacks some of the skills required to be a great head coach.

Jeff Van Gundy said on a broadcast once that he absolutely knew Thibs was the best coach on his staff in Houston (including himself). He really is that smart. And the guy lives and breathes basketball. He has no family. But give me the great people person without an ego who can hire great assistants.
