I'll say it - the first round of the NBA EC playoffs is terribly underrated

The worst series will be Chicago and Milwaukee. Milwaukee has been running on empty since the MCW trade.

Besides that -

Toronto and Washington - two evenly marched teams. Toronto has one of the most explosive offenses in the NBA. Washington is battle tested, from losing in the 2nd round last year to Indiana in 6 games

Cleveland and Boston - Boston is scrappy as hell. Who doesn't want to watch Isaiah Thomas in the playoffs? Boston is 19-11 since the all-star break.

Atlanta and Indiana (hopefully) - Indiana has been the forgotten team this year. Made to the ECF last year. They are undefeated since Paul George returned from injury.

Fire away boys.

The East may be the weaker conference, but the teams have exciting players. I can't wait

I agree that it's underrated.

Disagree that it's terribly so. Especially when compared to the madness that is the West.

Wait, are you talking about the same MCW that scored 30 last night?

I'd be shocked if Boston won a game

I don't know. I think they get a game. Of course, I'd rather them than the Wiz, but it means they get the Cavs in the 2nd.

Last year was the exception to the general rule that the 1st round of the NBA playoffs are a bore and near complete waste of time.

Upsets are rare (particularly compared to the other three major pro sports playoffs), and usually the only interesting series are between teams that have no realistic chance of winning the title. That changes come the semis, when things get real awesome, real quick. But the 1st round is usually just the way to clear your palette for the more interesting series to come.

You are going to get shite on for this thread, but you aren't wrong. Three out of the four WC first round series aren't all that compelling...the 1 v. 8 will be over within 5 regardless of opponent and two series will involve Portland and Dallas. Your typical fan isn't following what Boston has been doing and Indiana is a 50 win team with Paul George.

The "OMG the West is WIDE OPEN" fallacy continues.
