Video monitor is one of the greatest inventions ever. Especially for a new born. Especially for a first time mom. I added cameras and now have 3. One in each kids room and one in toy room. It is an incredibly convient baby item to have. If you don't appreciate it, I promise your wife will!

More important than video is two-way audio. Sometimes saves you a trip if you can soothe the kid s your voice.
