The law on manslaughter is very clear. He was killed in pursuit of felon. The a-hole thug that ran deserves to get locked up for the officers death.

Walk into an elementary classroom, and ask students why they should wear a seatbelt, and you will get told it keeps you safe in a car accident. If children know this, then an officer, who enforces--and apparently breaks--seatbelt laws, has no excuse for such irresponsible behavior. Add the fact that he didn't think of this basic behavior while on a high speed chase, is astonishingly stupid.
