While unfortunate, this situation reflects the prevailing lack of accountability in government--in this case law enforcement. I mean we are inundated with "click it or ticket" ads on TV, billboards, and the radio. It is a behavior taught to pre-k age students and younger, yet when the officer fails to follow a behavior children are capable of--while dangerously pursuing a criminal (who shouldn't have ran)--the blame is completly taken away.
The suspect deserves punishment for his crimes, but when the officer fails to use basic, child-level common-sense, and breaks the law as well, then the officer deserves blame for his stupid and irresponsible actions.
