My black father and white mother married in '83. They had me a year later. They got divorced not too soon after that. I feel that situation was different from many in some ways, but all too much the same in other ways. My dad was rather well off at the time. Six-figure salary, flew planes as a hobby. He just couldn't stick around for long. Got bored easy. He got with two other white women later in life, and both of those relationships fizzled. I'm not sure what any of this means, but I hope to do better than old sport when I get married next month.
