At some point south of Fredericksburg the rest of the drive up 95 to DC becomes a parking lot. It's pretty much a daily occurrence at this point.

Richmond itself is not bad outside of I-64 during commute times, which can cause back up onto parts of 95. Most of the traffic starts just north of Richmond. Any wreck north of where I -295 crosses 95 makes the interstate a parking lot for the next several hours since there's no alternate route except those who want to fiddle on US 1.

I live just north of Richmond and drive 95 everyday

95 between Fredericksburg and DC is hell of earth. The express lanes have helped a bit, but it's still a mess.
