Me and my girlfriend will be leaving after finals and driving up to Virginia beach to stay at her aunt and uncles. What's are some things I should plan to do or things that most people don't think about doing?

Do you have a planned stop in D.C., because you know they're about a 4-hour drive apart, one way?

It's not like you just hop over to D.C.

Just got back two weeks ago. Eat at Catch 31. Do not eat anything with a buffet.

You understand it's going to take about 3 to 4 hours to get from Va Beach to DC, right?

In Virginia Beach, definitely give yourself a few hours to tour the nautical museum and walk around the USS Minnesota. It's really cool.

My favorite museum in DC was the Newseum.

Waterman's is pretty good food in VA beach, it's right on the beach. Traveling to DC is death. you'll die in traffic. There are also laws against cursing in VA beach so that's fun.

If you're into historical sites, you might want to check out Kill Devil Hills/Kitty Hawk, NC. It's an hour or two south of Virginia Beach, I think (it's been a while since I was there). There's a replica of the Wright Flyer and monuments marking the distances of the first four flights that day. I found it very interesting, but I'm really into aviation and history.

Colonial Wiiliamsburg is too far away either.

Trying to drive to DC, see some sites, and drive back in the same day seems overly ambitious to me. You'll be selling yourself short on the experience. Go when you can spend a couple of days.

I live in Williamsburg. Jamestown and colonia Williamsburg are nice.

Do the naval boat tour...largest naval base in world. there is a carrier in port right now. They cruise by all the ships and explain details about each ship in part

Don't bother with DC for just one day.
