Can someone explain the concept of it a little more to me.
I'm wondering if it would work in Charleston. We have a lot of golfers here, but we also have pretty good weather and pristine courses located all around.

Upscale driving range + bar/restaurant.
I really think you could put a TG just about anywhere and it would succeed. Never understood why people think NO is any different, what makes TG great is that it attracts non golfers just as much as it does golfers.
