We live in Cherokee Village in Alex. Wife works for a rural high school that covers Lecompte and Forest Hill so she is use to the country type school.
I know here in CenLa there is a demand for "certified" teaches everywhere and at every school across many parishes. I was in the mindset that the demand is great down in the BR area.

Denham Springs sounds like a good place to start looking then. Excellent high school (actually most schools in LP are great) with very little disciplinary problems. Live Oak schools north of DS in Watson are good as well. LP is a bit tougher to get hired on bc it's highly desirable & not a lot of turnover, but definitely worth a try. ... Ascension Parish has a bit more "thuggish" type kids than LP; LP is a bit more rural &"red.' Denham is getting crowded, but has no serious problems most of the time.
