About the only usefulness of a MAcc is to get your 150 hours. That's it. I mean, there is NOTHING useful about a MAcc as far as what you do for a job.

Going to disagree here a bit. If you have a virtually identical résumé to a person without a masters, I believe it will come into play. It will not make or break your career bu any means though. Also, accounting theory, an additional audit and tax classes helped tremendously with exam prep.

If you are hiring for a large company, and you have two equal candidates, same hours, same GPA, same extra-curricular, same intern experiences, etc, and one has a MAcc and the other just got to 150 by changing majors or whatnot, then, yes, in that instance, the person with the MAcc might get the offer if only one is available.

If it's an MBA vs a MAcc, no advantage either way.

But that's only with helping you GET your first job. As far as actually doing your job... totally useless. I've had plenty of MAcc holders as staff accountants and plenty of non-masters degree holders as staff accountants and there has not been a single instance where the person's MAcc helped them outperform.

EDIT: In fact, I would even say the MAcc holders tend to overthink things and not want to work on compliance work - it's as if they think they are better than it. Yeah, they know the "why" something is taxed, but I can't get them to fill out the damn form right.
