I can perfectly understand why an Old vet today would still hate Japanese people. Unlike Germany, Japanese culture has not accepted that Imperial Japan was evil and barbaric.
The Japanese were far and away worse then the nazis.
Thank about that for a while.

Not really*. Pretty much everything the Japanese did, the Nazis did as well. The only difference is the Japs did their worst to the Chinese people and American, Brit, /and Australian PWO's while the Germans did their worst to the Soviets, Slavs, and Jews.
If you look at the Japs, Nazis, and Soviets, they pretty much all were as horrible as you could imagine.
*The one Jap atrocity I think could stand out as being above and beyond anything the Nazis or the Soviets ever did is the Rape of Nanking. The only thing close to it from the German side would be the systematic and longtime running murder of Soviet civilians via the Einsatzgruppen or perhaps the way they put down the Warsaw Uprising of 1944. As for Soviet atrocities that could compare, I'd say the closest thing would be the sacking of Prussia and Pomerania.
