Disclosure: I do not own any bitcoin.

The goal of this thread is to clear up some of the many misconceptions surrounding "cryptocurrency". My responses will be devoid of (my own) opinion, and will simply aim to help people to better understand the Bitcoin space. Let's see how this goes.

Bitcoin is no more legit money than if I took a post-it note pad and started writing up "Vader Bucks". It's value is based solely on the level of stupidity of some people nowadays willing to fool themselves into thinking Bitcoin is anything more than make believe. It was a fad for a while and like all fads it passes.
