We All Wanna Boogie is a funk masterpiece.

I think he tried really hard - and he did some interesting things there, but he just wasn't the giant in funk as he was with straight blues.

I mean - lets take another cat who plays a hell of a guitar and people forget about - Prince - probably a top 5 rock guitarist (talent wise) and a top 5 funk guitarist (if we're being honest) - the prime example of the Minneapolis sound - I don't see him making the transition to straight 12-bar blues without a drop off - and I think he's one of the most talented musicians America has ever produced - but is truly a giant in that notch between funk and rock.

For my tastes, BB King plays more to my preferred style of blues - I kind of think of him as the default blues player, but he is to Albert what David Gilmour is to a player like Satriani - both brilliant, but one more comfortable letting the space between notes have the same voice as the notes themselves, while the other is a more technically proficient virtuoso with the instrument.

No doubt. King did King. He was by no means a funk guitarist like say Leo from the Meters.
